Thank you to everyone who's supporting us either with walking, cheering on, sponsoring or just generally being enthusiastic about this campaign!
Here's some more images from our walkers that's going out on social media today. We're very grateful to them. One of these images is actually mine from a practice walk I did earlier in the month - the Sussex countryside one on the bottom left.
I'm walking my marathon over three days this weekend (with my dog and also my 17-year-old son is joining me for 12 miles, and my 87-year-old father is joining me for 5 miles!) and I'm expecting to be very sore at the end of it! But it's in such a good cause.
If you want to sponsor me, or any other individual or team (the Pinner/Ruislip group and the Kent/Surrey support groups are doing it) or the campaign as a whole please do - it's such a boost to receive a sponsor and know the money is going straight to the charity. Yes, good point. Typically tomorrow's the hottest day and that's the longest walk. Fortunately, a lot of the walk is shaded, through woodland etc. I'll be packing lots of water though (for me and the dog!). Thank you ☺️
I have really enjoyed the challenge so far and did extremely well in the first 2 weeks of walking.
However, just to remind me/us of the nature of these diseases - I couldn’t do much at all last week….my batteries were indeed flat.
Maybe I overdid it, who knows? It did hit home that so many of my friends and even family think I’m fine because I am walking and look ‘fine’.
Still, I’m at last feeling a bit more inclined to walk, so I will do more this week but I will try not to overdo it.
I am delighted that I have already completed the challenge and done the marathon miles so anything else is a bonus.
I think it has also helped me mentally as much as physically as I used to be able to do so much more than I can now, and it gives me a sense of achievement.
The biggest lift is having raised over £550 for PMR/GCA UK already and there’s still time to go🙌
Thank you so much AmberGamble! We don't want anyone to overdo it so I'm glad you're listening to your body but really happy that you've enjoyed the mental and physical benefits of being outside and walking.
Thank you for raising money for us too - it's so appreciated. We've done brilliantly and donations are still coming in.
