I had PMR from 2013-2018 when I had the all clear. Posting this new information because i have had all my covid vaccines, but since the last 2 boosters I have had aching shoulders and legs pain. My doctor after blood tests because my cp level is 13 I have PMR again and has put me on pred.again 15mgs a day and I am on the reduction plan. My own thoughts are that the pains are caused by the jabs but I the doctor doesn’t agree, anyone else having this problem. Definitely will not have any more vaccine, I was perfectly fine until then. I am 81years old.

That’s unfortunate. Sadly PMR can be triggered again or it never fully went away but was too low grade for you to realise, who knows. It can be triggered by many things including immune stimulants like vaccines, but one never knows if it is a sequence of ‘assaults’ and the vaccine was the cherry on top. The doctor won’t know and since it can’t be proven other than with a suggestive timeline, they are unlikely to point their finger especially if it might mean people stop taking vaccines. People have said their Covid vaccine triggered their issues with conviction and others have no problems at all. For some Covid itself triggers autoimmune activity. In the end we have our personal theory and then have to make our own choices.

Do you mean you don’t agree that it is PMR but some other pain causing process to do with the vaccine? Is the Pred helping?

When I had 5th booster reaction I had with flu like symptoms overnight, then problems with aches and pains in arms and shoulders, eventually after about a month they cleared up. I also have carpal tunnel syndrome doctor gave me cortisone injection it was great no aches and pains, after much deliberation I decided to have the next booster, same symptoms has 5th my mind my body Covid vaccine is the problem.

Mine came from Covid itself… I never had a vaccine but acquired this monster, immediately following infection.

That's a shame. But PMR can recur later after it has gone into remission once - there are patients who have had PMR 2 or even 3 times, long before Covid or Covid vaccines. The majority of cases since 1888 when PMR was first described were pre-Covid so it can't have been involved. If you could list everything that might have caused it and tried to avoid them, you would be struggling.

But my view is - if the vaccine did that, consider what Covid itself might do.
