Taking blood tests after Pred

Hi,

If someone has finished the MethylPrednisolone pack on July 5, 2024, how soon can blood be drawn to get a reading of CRP and ERS without it impacting the results?

How long does Pred stay in our systems and affect the CRP and ERS blood test results?

Thank you!

Depends on individual - Pred itself should be out of your system in about 24 hours -how long before blood markers stabilise will be longer. Did find a comment which says leave it a week to 10 days.

I think I have my answer to my original question. I finished the pred pack on 7/4/24 and had blood drawn on 7/10/24 to test ERS & CRP amongst other things, and CPR was more elevated than on 6/28/24.

In 2018, I was dxd wi PMR and was on pred with a very slow taper for almost 3 years until it burned itself out and I went on my merry way.

Symptoms have fully returned in the last month after I smushed three and broke one toe. Don't ever think 'oh it is just a toe'. That has been more of a hardship on me than any other recovery, and I have had many.

Today I met wi my great Rheumy and we agreed on this plan: start on 10mgs this time and have a very slow taper.

One comment he made interested me: he said I was 'pred sensitive' because I feel its effect very quickly both when I start to take it, and then when I stop, too ! I took my first dose a couple of hours ago and all of my joints are coming back!

Glad to see lots of familiar peeps here!

Peace
