As well as Tzc, I am taking 5mg pred, 10mg amitryptiline, naproxen, lanzoprazole, risendronate sodium, calcium and vit D. Could any of these be the culprit for high blood pressure rather than Tocilizumab injections?
High blood pressure: As well as Tzc, I am taking... - PMRGCAuk
High blood pressure
Not sure any of them are particular culprits - and have responded to previous post ..
Did you have raised BP prior to TCZ? It didn't raise my BP.
Amitryptiline has been reported to cause hypertension. Naproxen definitely can cause raised BP or worsen existing hypertension. Reports of raised BP with lansoprazole have not been definitely linked to it but the possibility is there. Risendronate also has it listed as an effect, Difficult to say if calcium could though there are certain populations where it is suspected.
So I'd say that scores a full house!!!!
The pharmacist can do an extensive data check to find out.
Oh dear. Thank you everyone. It seems mad to take yet another medication to alleviate highBP if it's being caused by one, or many, which I'm taking now. The booklet which came with Tcz gave highBP and high Cholesterol as a side effect to be reported to the rheumatologist. I think I'm doing the right thing stopping it.
To make it worse, when I took BP medication it either raised my BP significantly or failed to reduce it. It is very tricky balancing meds
A couple of things:
"Prednisone stimulates receptors in your kidneys to retain excessive sodium and water. This increases the total volume of blood that is being pushed by the heart and thus raises blood pressure. Prednisone can also increase blood pressure through weight gain." (drugs.com)
Also, what do you have? I have LVV, which can also lead to high BP.
