Help with rheumy phone call tomo

Hi Everyone. 3 weeks ago, had GCA flare after perfect storm of Moderna jab, flu, reaching 2.75 tapering...extreme fatigue, headaches, nausia and accompanying stress. Helpline rheumy team, sent me for blood tests and another synth test and doubled dose to 5mg. Instructed to stay at 5 until my own rheumy replied, which he didn't, so have waited until booked appt tomo. I did contact him firstly with the flare, but no reply then either. Concerned he may insist I drop straight back down to 2.75, even tho it has been 3 weeks. Should I comply, or request the DL extra slow taper...? Any and every comments welcome. Thanks.

Maybe a compromise - and drop down in a couple of stages - to 4mg for a week or so, then to 3mg where you stay for a month before resuming slow taper...

All the more reason not to do anything rash!

So tell him that, and say you either want to remain as you are - or if pushed, reduce to 4mg and stay there until after holiday..

Good to have reasons ready, so as not to be pushed. Thank you

I wouldn't and after all, it is his fault that you are still at 5mg. However, my justification would be that 2.75mg wasn't enough and it is impossible to know what will be - could be anywhere between 5 and 3mg. It will also depend in what those two tests found. But how rude not to do as was said.

Indeed...we are continually subject to their communications...or lack of them. I am tempted to stay put until after the holiday....as you say..nothing rash. Thank you.
