I had a phone call from my Rheumy Nurse two days ago, when she asked me how I was doing and I said I was now tapering to 9 mg, after a week long flare just before Christmas. After a bit more conversation and questions she said that she was going to put me on leflunomide. Phone call ends.
She phoned me back about half and hour later to say she had spoken to the Rheumy and that he had said not to add leflunomide and to extend my tapering to a 2 monthly taper per mg.
A good result I think.

That’s very positive, no need to add in additional meds this time if not absolutely necessary.
The two monthly taper per 1mg sounds good but if you struggle you could drop 0.5mg per month same result but easier on the body!

Whew! Narrow squeak.
This is the same Rheumy that I had to convince him that he had misdiagnosed me with PMR and that I actually had Palindromic Rheumatism. He was very impressed with my argument and shook my hand (pre Covid days)
