Breakthrough with the cause of IBD - may lead to similar discoveries with other autoimmune diseases?

Just spotted this on my BBC News notifications. BBC News - Major cause of inflammatory bowel disease found bbc.com/news/articles/c1wwd...

It's written in layman's language, but seems to say they have found that there is a genetic link and that they have drugs already that might treat it. They just need to be tweaked so that they don't knock out the immune system all together. It would be interesting to see a more scientific report. I wonder if it's also a "foot in the door" towards finding a better treatment for PMR and other autoimmune conditions?
