Gut analysis

I recently provided a sample for analysis and received the results last week.

I had a follow up appointment with Gemma my Funtional Health Practitioner (in training) yesterday.

I wanted to share some of the info I have learned here.

I have Helicobacter Pylori, unsurprising as around 50% of the population have it.

Of more interest to me is my high Zonulin level and as I understand it can be a cause of Leaky gut. Leaky Gut Syndrome and can be responsible for autoimmune diseases however, LGS is still a grey area for medical science.

"Many studies have revealed that a leaky gut paves the way to the development of autoimmune diseases. Therefore, healing the leaky gut suppresses the symptoms of these diseases; as such, decreasing its occurrence is vital to the prevention of autoimmune diseases "

I have made some dietary changes, aiming for very low gluten and very low sugar (the latter I should be doing anyway 😬). I have been taking some supplements that Gemma recommended at our first consultation to support my liver ( L-Glutathion, Sulforaphan, Milk Thistle). I am hoping to make some impact on my health. I live in hope.

In other news, last week we became great grandparents to Arlo.

6 weeks premature but weighing 6lbs, robust enough to cope.

All are doing well.
