Good news for me!

Saw the Rheumatologist yesterday & Doctor today. Rheumy wants me to taper 1/2mg every 6 weeks instead of 1mg every 4 weeks. Doctor is more than happy to discontinue blood tests & apt’s every month & for me to monitor everything myself. I can call Doc if I need to. Having read on this forum how lots of you are working to your own tapering plans with support from Doctor I am really pleased to have this result. Thank you all!

Good luck - and we are always around for questions, answers usually by next day at the latest.

Well done that Rheumy…. And as PMRpro says always someone around on here to help, should you require it.

It's good to hear some people do....I only see mine when I make the appointment to ask questions and update him! My real doctor is this forum....😀

I had a very similar experience at my Rheumy appt yesterday. Like you I am effectively monitoring my tapering myself with a review in 6 months. Any issues, I just call the help line. Best of luck.

That's what I've been doing - 0.5 every 6 weeks. My GP also left it to me - his words: "You're in charge". But it did mean the GP practice had no record of where I was in the taper.

I used to let my GP surgery know at regular intervals -about every 2 or 3 months as prescription changed.

That’s a very good idea, I hadn’t thought that far ahead yet.🙂
