Nausea & head fog

SpaghettiWestern99 profile image

I’m being treated for PMR and currently on 15mg of steroids.

Is there any advice on dealing with nausea and head foggy mess?

This was produced following brain fog connected to Covid19 - might be of some help -

Is the nausea directly connected to your Pred dose - i.e does it come on at a regular time after you have take it, or is it after food, or just random? Do you take a PPI - like omeprazole or similar?

It seems to be after the Predator dose, but doesn’t always appear and can be intermittment in terms of timings. I take the Pred with breakfast. I am taking Lansprazole, which seemed to be making things better, then suddenly last two days urgh!!!

So the nausea was already there before you started taking lansoprazole? What else do you take?

I had no nausea until the Pred and the lansoprazole seemed to be making things better. I don’t take anything else

Well then perhaps it’s something completely different…a virus or food poisoning?

I don’t think so, as everyone in the house is eating the same and they are fine. I think it’s the Pred and wondered if there where other strategies / medicines for dealing with it or I have to learn how to cope

Okay…. sounds as if it is the Pred then…or the PPI, they can affect some people. Think you need to discuss with GP.

Have you tried taking the pred before bed? That does often help to move unpleasant effects to while you are asleep.

I might give that a go. I’ll discuss with the Doctor. I don’t have any physical pain and I’m mobile, just the tiredness, fatigue, foggy head, moods & nausea! I’m hoping this is a good sign to start tapering?

The fatigue bit is the PMR, the foggy head could be or it could be pred, Moods the same - I was worse with untreated PMR than once I was on pred! Nausea is unusual I have to admit.
