Thanks again to those who responded to my post about liver function. Finally managed Io speak to a dr today who assured me that there was no cause for concern

Blip in the system maybe? Was there any comment on your results? Are you on statins? They can raise it in some people.

Thanks Dorset Lady. No blips but just marginally raised and out of range region and gp said not to worry and just repeat tests in 6 months. Yes I’m on statins. Hadn’t thought of that.

Sometimes if it just outside range - it's flagged up as PMRpr said. Last year my Potassium levels were -and new GP went into a bit of a panic -so I just cut out potassium rich foods for a month and got a re-test was fine - as was this year. But I now limit bananas - shame 🤦‍♀️a bit of a favourite - which may have accounted for levels!

My only issue was that the results came to me but I had no contact with anyone from the surgery to help interpret or understand any implications. When I last managed to get an appointment with my gp I suggested it had been a while since I’d had any blood tests. She was quite taken aback when she checked and said something like ‘ it’s just as well you’re keeping track of things’.

It’s thanks to this group that I am!

My surgery had a panic about my potassium levels a while back and I had to be retested. Turns out it can show that result if the blood sample has had a battering on it's journey to the labs or with too enthusiastic rubbing of arm where sample taken!

Or simply standing around too long before plasma is separated from red cells.

Presumably it was marginally outside the "normal range" - and the computer flags up even a tiny divergenge that is actually meaningless in real life.

Hi PMRpro. That’s seems to be the case. I probably over reacted given my history. Thanks for your response
