After suffering a massive flare/reboot of PMR in April following a bout of Covid and two years after my initial diagnosis, having tapered from 15mg to 4mg I requested a referral to a rheumatologist. I also posted for the first time on this forum and was informed that in Norwich we have a very good consultant, Max Yates, who specialises in PMR.. I am glad to say that I have now got an appointment with him on 5 September.
It was helpful to know to ask for him specifically, thank you those that noticed that I live in Norwich. I am back on 9.5 mg having tapered up to 10mg. Still got stiff leg muscles but feel that at last I am stabilising enough to start tapering all over again.
I will let you know how I get on

Never had a caring Rheumy!… but just make a few notes of things you want to cover with him.But from what I’ve read about him, I’m sure he’ll ask you all the right things anyway. Hope so.
Also, it’s worth making a list of Bullet Points about things you want to ask. Don’t go in with an A4 piece of paper - l worked in Outpatients l know the impact that has on a Doctor but being prepared & having dates to hand us very useful also…..
Well done, he is my Rheumy....you won't be disappointed.....you can ask him anything, and pretty sure you will get a good examination.....as I have said on here before, his mantra is communication........if you think you might forget.....write things down.Looking forward to how you get on.....
