Donating to PMRGCAuk

Has anyone else outside the UK had problems making donations? First of all my email was rejected as spam. Then trying another method (Facebook) couldn't confirm my identity (couldn't match my name to my country) although I've previously donated to Canadian organisations through FB.

Guess you tried this way -

pmrgca.org.uk/how-to-help/d...

Suggest you contact Fran_Benson as she is the membership secretary amongst other things…..

"Tis she who suggested FB when PMRGCAuk seemed to believe I was spam.

I've been trying to figure out how to transfer my contacts list to gmail as I wouldn't mind shedding the current format Hotmail which looks a lot like Word with far more capability than I want or need and is a pain to navigate.

Yes, I started yesterday but you do know that one's own computer screen very seldom matches up with instructions because platforms are forever changing their appearance? Hotmail is, in fact, a case in point and one of the reasons I want to change, and also the reason why in the past I stayed with them even after trying out gmail because it used to be so simple, providing what was needed for effective layperson communication.. The Outlook platform really does look like Word, which I've never liked, Wordperfect was so much more intuitive. We do, of course, see the same to a lesser degree with websites like HU and Patient. Techies just make things more complicated, so much so we find planes refusing human over-ride and killing people. Good thing self-driving cars havenlt really taken off yet. Sorry. Waking up feeling like a Luddite I guess! Need breakfast and tea☕!

Think many feel like that at times..sure brekkie and cuppa will make things a little better… and yes techies have a lot to answer for -some good, some not so much… 😊

I managed it but that was due to an error, I paid my subscription twice and when told asked them to keep one as a donation!

That's an idea. I could try to simply join without including the donation in the application. Maybe the AI of the system would let me join :D

Exactly the same happened with me!

Sorry! That was meant to be a reply to Koalajane - too quick with my fingers.

I sent the money after getting correspondence from Fran and she then told me I had paid. It was by standing order that I had set up last year and had forgotten about!

Can’t remember how I managed to pay twice; it happened too long ago, but I have never tried to change it, and, if Pmrgcauk benefit, then that’s fine by me. Such a fantastic Forum!

And a wonderful charity. That was how I felt

Agreed. This is not the first time I've attempted to make a donation.

Managed to join, but guess I'll need to wait a while before attempting a donation because when I tried to make a donation it was, once again, denied. My email is good enough to become a member, but not to make a donation? Does that make sense? No. 🤷‍♂️

PayPal is easiest way transferring money abroad - but obvs both parties need account!

The reason I don't use Paypal is because whenever I've signed up I immediately start getting spam claiming to be Paypal and telling me I need to do something with my account. Tried twice. At least without a Paypal account I know the spam is not even worth checking. Don't tell me to tighten my security settings. Most of my mail, including items I mark everytime as safe, like newspapers I subscribe to and even sometimes mail from family, is now going into spam. Another reason to ditch Hotmail? It will probably take days to change my account everywhere I need to, which is why I haven't yet.

Not a PayPal fan either!

I wouldn’t dare to suggest that you tightened your security settings! 😱

Morning,FWIW, I can not buy anthing on-line using bankcard in the UK since Brexit, the sites won't accept any address with a country other than UK and Channel Islands; not even from a UK account. Its a complete pain. Hubby does OK with PayPal.
