omeprazole

does anyone else get a fuzzy head soon after taking omeprazole? I initially thought it was a reaction to my steroids but having tried taking them in the night it made no difference. The fuzziness has usually gone by midday!

Yes, that’s how I knew and I tried that twice. I found the ‘old’ type of stomach meds, the Histamine 2 receptor antagonist, didn’t do this. Pred also made me very squiffy so I took it at bedtime.

Hi

I dont get a fuzzy head -I was first given it when I was in hospital - it is to stop indigestion for medication that has that as a side effect -I dont get any side effects at all

I always take omeprazole at bed time and have never had any problems.

that’s good to know. I had a message from my Doctor this morning telling me to try taking it at night so really hoping that will help.

I took it for a short time, upset my digestion (!) , made me feel headachy and lightheaded. Several friends got on really well with it.

all of these medications seem to affect people differently, it’s so confusing.

yes, when taking 20 x 2 daily over four months. It only lessened when I tapered to 20 x 1 alternative days snd disappeared with a few days of cessation. Now I’m just fuzzy with menopause or from bad nights.

I often get a fuzzy head about 1-2 hours after taking omeprazole, some days worse than others. Often putting my head down on the table or between my knees for 5 minutes and then sitting upright for a bit will fix it, but not always. I had not though of it being due to the omeprazole.

that is just how it affects me, but it often lasts until midday. I am going to start taking it in the evening from tomorrow with my Doctors permission. If this doesn’t work I don’t know of anything else that can cause it.

it will be interesting to hear what she thinks. I will be taking it for the first time this evening so should be interesting to see if that affects me.
