I seem to recall reading a response to a post some time ago regarding PPI's. I have been taking the above for two and a half years with no medication review during that time and due to the present scenario at our surgery almost certainly no chance of getting one. ( the contracted G.P. has resigned along with those contracted to him leaving the health trust responsible, sadly one part time locum for 11,000 patients and enormous difficulty even getting through on the phone, = disaster,)
Did I read on here that microwaving a lemon along with a spoon of Manuka honey worked for someone ? If so I would like to try it.
Suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Unwaxed lemon, on minute in microwave (gives three times more juice)
squeeze lemon, divide juice into 3 and take with water, 3 times per day.
A teaspoonful of Manuka Honey in a pro-biotic yoghurt when you take your pred is a help also. Try Holland & Barrett for the Manuka honey they often have offers on.
If not the pred with the pro-biotic helps as well.
BTW: Manuka Honey can also be bought at a cream and this helps with cuts etc.
But don't just stop the PPI suddenly - after this long you must taper off them or you wll end up with rebound acid production and it can be VERY uncomfortable!
Well, that’s the theory, but I think that at some surgeries it’s become a tick box exercise, so that the patient may not even be aware of it. It’s been that way at our surgery for a couple of years - I was amazed earlier this year to find they’ve employed a pharmacist who does telephone reviews and refers any queries to a GP - it’s an improvement, anyway 😊
Our surgery have employed two pharmacists even though we have an excellent pharmacy on the other side of the road with a brilliant pharmacist. I am not sure what they do, I think they may just go through patient records as I notice mine have been updated for no apparent reason. I suppose reviewing medications would be a good idea too.
Allegedly - once upon a time it was a discussion between GP and patient, but even before Covid times I noticed my review date on my prescription had been amended! On my current repeat, review date was last month, I watch with interest!
My GP said that he does many many endoscopies and issues relating to steroids are extremely rare. He told me to stick with the yoghurt and pro- biotics.
