Bee Sting and Prednisone

This is probably the most trivial question that I have asked the group thus far, but I was just stung in the neck (right where the lymph nodes in my throat reside) by a very angry bee and I was wondering if there are any issues with bee stings when one is on prednisone? I am tapering to 7mg from 8 on Dorset Lady’s 5 week slow taper. I think high dose steroids are sometimes given very short term for serious bee sting allergies, but as far as I know I’m not allergic. The sting site is slightly red, slightly swollen and somewhat painful. Any thoughts?

Is the sting out? Have you had medical attention? I don’t think it’s trivial and wonder if sick day rules should apply here? I would be tempted to take an extra 5 mgs for a week to get through this. Then return to my normal dose in one go.

Thanks for your reply. As far as I can tell the stinger is out and the pain and redness seem to be dissipating. I just had a moment of panic as I wasn’t sure how it was going to play out. Never a dull moment in PMR world.

Shouldn't be any PROBLEMS, if anything the pain will be less/shortlived as the inflammation is less able to develop.

I've not had a bee sting - just wasp stings and they were surprisingly mild after the initial ouch, Never put my pred up either.
