Night Sweats and Tapering

Does anyone know what goes on in the body to cause night sweats while tapering down Prednisone?

I'm not concerned, just curious to know what my body is thinking. I am going from 3.5 to 3 mg and last night woke up with my pajamas completely soaked.

I had similar night sweats before when tapering but never a thing that soaked the sheets.

Poor adrenal function can be a cause of night sweats - and at this sort of dose it is quite likely.

Now you have written this you will see related posts - depending what device you are on, either on right of screen or scroll down past current posts.

But very often it’s a sign that dose is slightly too low…or body getting used to reduced dose, or as PMRpro has said, adrenals….

I can't answer the "why" of experiencing night sweats but I know they are considered a side effect of taking PRED. Personally I experienced night sweats as I was tapering below 5mg. I just assumed that my body was adapting to the reduction.

If I got sweats as I tapered the dose it was because I was on the verge of a flare.
