For a number of years (10+ at least) I have had digestive problems (diarrhoea, bloating) and night sweats which have disappeared since taking Pred. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced these pleasant side effects too.

Pred, digestive problems & night sweats
Sounds as if you have been suffering from some sort of autoimmune inflammatory bowel disorder - which may or may not be associated with your PMR...
I think you may be right. There must have been some sort of autoimmune disease(s) alongside/prior to the PMR as, against the odds, my blood glucose level and my weight has also reduced since I started taking pred.
I have had a similar experience regarding improved digestion. I had IBS for years - nothing ever 'worked' - but it abated very quickly when I started taking Pred. I have asked others here and elsewhere about this before and a few have also experienced this improvement - although problems can return when your dose goes down from what I can tell - so not a permanent 'cure' - but I am just hypothesising from my own and a few other's experiences and have no solid evidence I'm afraid. Also I have lost weight on Pred but unfortunately the night (and sometimes day) 'sweats continue.
Best wishes
Yes! I have had numerous bouts of IBSmand horrible night sweats (even after menopause), but all symptoms have disappeared! I attributed it to the No wheat, no carbs, no sugar, no caffeine, no dairy diet. ... but now I wonder?
Maybe if you feel tempted to have something you have cut from your diet you could try it and see what happens?
Hi Mamaici, I was reading recently that if you have IBS you should eat unhealthy food!! I don’t know how true that is.
I hated the sweats but they have got better at a lower dose of pred.
I've had IBS diagnosed since I was in my 20s (it runs in my family!). I'm almost 74 now and have had PMR since Oct. 2016. Being on Pred. stopped the symptoms beautifully. But now I've tapered down to 8 mg using DSNS, the symptoms are coming back again. As you say it was a nice break from them while it lasted. I get hot flushes too but not as bad as when I went through menopause or as described here. I'm just grateful to be able to function without too much stiffness and muscle pain even though my mobility is more limited than before PMR.
