I was diagnosed with PMR in 2020 still on steroids I’ve tapered down to 2 mg but can’t get any lower.Doctor seems happy with that.Ive had so much help and advise from this group, it’s who I turn to when I need more advise.I had a Bone Scan last September 2022 got the results last week after numerous phone calls.I have fractures on both hips and my spine.Bones are 30% worse than in previous scan 10 years ago.i was prescribed Risedronate Sodium 35 mg Tabket to take on a weekly basis,I haven’t taken any because of worry that the gums and teeth could suffer. Are any members on this treatment?

Bone Scan Results at long last
I have been on Apo-Risedronate DR (delayed reaction), 35 mg once a week, since July 2022. I had a bone scan in late May 2022 and it showed I had osteoporosis in my spine (osteopenia in hips and femur - I think I have my bone scan measurements listed in my bio). After doing a lot of research, I decided to take the medication. I have had no problems so far. I do see a periodontist every 3 months for deep cleaning as I have had gum recession (had first surgery in 2009, latest surgery 2017). I also have orthodontic work going on for 3 years now. I checked with my dentist, periodontist and orthodontist about taking this medication, and they were okay with it.
*I thought I should add that I was diagnosed with PMR in late May 2021 and started on 40 mg of Prednisone. I am now on 5 mg of Prednisone.
I did until I came down to 2.5mg, now wk 3 of 1mg to 0.75mg.
Was I wise to do what I did?? No idea. When I started Pred in Jan 2020 at 15mg I had a DEXA in July the same year, results normal. I’m now in a long queue to have a repeat scan, but the Dr surgery said there’s a very long waiting list.
