Hot flashes?

Am having ever more hot flashes and sweating around my neck over last several months. Could it be the steroids? In the distant past, was relying on welbutrin for depression but got hot flashes and changed to escatolepram. In the last few years I started taking a small dose of welbutrin in addition to escatolepram with no difficulty. But the hot flashes are more recent. Thoughts on whether steroids can cause hot flashes?

Yes definitely but only at particular doses, it seems to wear off after a while. I was always hot with rivulets of sweat trickling down my face.. I bought little neckerchiefs filled with crystals which I kept in the freezer to wear out and tried other Menopause remedies, like a fan in the bedroom. It does pass though. I had one of those battery operated fans to take out with me as well. People just assumed it was the menopause. Embarrassing though, it would always happen during conversations with strangers.

It can be the pred - or it can be the GCA itself. And it affects some people more than others.

I had horrible hot flushes when I started steroids, but they went away around 10mg. Thank goodness.

When I started pred at 30mg I was hot and sweaty all the time - like a permanent hot flash, it was awful. It went away when I got down to 20mg.

This is good news. I hope to get to 16 mgs of medrol in a month and a half or so.

Weirdly, now am down to 20 mgs medrol from 22.5, hot flashes have stopped!
