For the last two days I’ve had horrific back pain. All I did was sit on my bed and I felt something and it then just got worse and worse. Anyway, this morning I’ve woken up with awful groin pain on the right side. It’s almost a burning type pain. PMR related or something else? Thanks!

My rule of thumb is if one feels a sudden niggle, tweak, giving way, etc it’s something that has just happened like an injury. Usually the apparent offending action, like picking up a tissue, is only holding the smoking gun and didn’t fire it. The damage is usually caused quietly previously and the last action was the final straw. Pred and less strength work tends to make us more prone to injuries. What have you done in the last week, especially repetitive actions? This may give you a clue. Where is the pain exactly and what movements hurt? Have you had it before?
In these situations, if I can, I try to see a good physio, osteopath etc. A GP might be able to suggest a cause. They prescribe pain killers and refer to a physio if they have ruled out arthritis or other non musculoskeletal causes.
the back pain is a bulging disc at L5S1. All I did was sit down on the bed like I normally would and I felt a slight niggle. The next day and every day since, it’s been really painful. But last night I had a really horrible burning pain on the inside of my right groin. Not on the hip area x
Sounds like an injury, I would seek medical advice. I have bad groin pain, but it’s sciatica, & back pain through a benign spinal tumour! I think it’s easy to think everything that happens us connected to PMR…but it’s not!
The groin pain happened 2 me too, and at same time my left leg was really painful on weight bearing . Mobility bad 4 around 10 days. Happened when I had just reduced my Pred dose by 1mg. Improved with Ibuprofen. Since then, only reduce by 1/2 mg every 2 months - so far so good, although still get shoulder and neck pain.
