Good news hip X-rays show wear and tear but pain still continues especially in the left groin. GP requested full blood tests (done yesterday) and I have a pelvic scan Tuesday. As I had mesh inserted for a surgical hernia 20 years ago it may now be causing a problem and that I have another hernia. So no lifting and no bending but am so so fed up with living in pain. At least I am tapering down again from 9mg to 8mg but don’t know whether to go straight down by 1mg or do the DSNS method after this flare. Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hip and groin pain update
Oh just deep sympathy with the pain. Know the feeeling, its my back!! Just wears you out. I hope you find some relief. Best wishes.
I would definitely take the slower approach to tapering, ie DSNS: nothing to lose and much to gain.
Best of luck with the scan. We are so fortunate in this day and age where huge advances have been made. I was shown images of aortic inflammation on ultrasound scan….fascinating.
Thank you 123-go, I know that’s the right way but after 3 years and being back where I was a year ago I’m impatient to get back to 5mg again and I feel worn out. Now I find the squirrels have been rummaging in my pots of spring bulbs. Grrrr! Thank you again. Take care.
Good luck with the scan Oboes ☘️
Pain is so debilitating isn’t it? With you all the way. As for tapering 😵💫 I thought I’d got to 7.5 but had to go back to 8 and am now taking very easy. I’d recommend a slow taper, DSNS or one of DL’s. As we say on here, it isn’t slow if it works!
Hugs 🤗xx
Has an orthopaedic surgeon looked at your x-rays or was it a rheumatologist?
Hi piglette, no idea this was just the report from the hospital ti the GP.
That happened with me. The GP really made no comment, I had to call him. My GP suggested I saw a rheumatologist, which I did. On my second visit nearly a year later a new rheumie happened to look at the x-rays and said did you realise how bad your hip is? She went back to my GP and they applied for funding for a hip operation. I then saw an orthopaedic surgeon three months later having got the funding agreed. I then saw the orthopaedic surgeon who agreed to put me on the waiting list for a new hip and six months later I had a hip replacement which was wonderful.
Pain is so frustrating! PMR 3+years. Down to 11mg prednisone & a flare. Up to 15mg & diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Tiredness & right groin & leg pain. Started Simponi Aria infusion & no relief yet. I’d like a good nights sleep & no pain. At least the nausea from pain is gone. Good luck
Thank you Pass7. Am so sorry to hear you are suffering too. Take heart we are strong people and I hope you get some relief from your pain soon. Take care.
Glad you are slowing the taper; wise. My husband had issues from mesh used during a hernia repair. Good luck~💞
