I have PMR and GCA diagnosed in 2020. Started on 40 mg then quickly reduced as advised by consultant, which caused a flare. Fortunately found all of you.
I have been on 9 mg for about 2 months but had chest infection since last week.
Got antibiotics and slowly recovering. However I have asthma and am a bit wheezy, what are your thoughts on temporary increase in prednisolone.
I will be keeping in touch with doctor if symptoms change.
Thank you for all the hard work.
Ann.

Personally, if I felt I was winning I didn’t increase, especially around the 10mg mark. If you need extra Pred for your chest, then that’s a different dosing and reduction schedule and needs a doctor to advise.
I'm surprised you weren't given pred with the antibiotics at the time, it is pretty well standard practice these days especially for patients with a history of asthma. I'd ask the GP since you have got this far.
I’ve been suffering from a serious chest infection for 5 weeks now, nothing was helping, 2 weeks of antibiotic still didn’t help, I now have been told I have fluid on the lung. I spent a day in hospital on a drip. They have now upped my pred to 25mg for 5 days and another 2 weeks antibiotics, the pred is really helping.
I'm sorry that I can't advise you about Prednisolone as I only use it very occasionally for vasculitis flares. I would seek advice from your GP before increasing your dosage as it might do more harm than good to increase. I hope you feel better soon.
