Versus Arthritis have an on-line community that may be of interest. versusarthritis.org/get-hel...
Both options already suggested should give you info you need.
My sister in-law has had RA for a number of years. She lives in Spain so has to pay for the drug called ARAVA (LEFLUNOMIDE) she has told me she'd never know she had RA from taking this tablet. Not sure if the NHS will prescribe it, or if you'd have to pay....worth asking.
It is used by the NHS - and sometimes suggested as a steroid sparer for PMR with several people on the forum having tried it. It can have some unpleasant gut side effects!
Have the people that have tried it been successful at getting off Pred ? Shame all drugs have side effects. I'm back on 5mg and will stay on it for a while longer before attempting 4.5mg. Every mg drop I get nervous.
It has been discussed quite a bit on the forum. It is the same as with methotrexate - it works well for the people it works for! The paper Dasgupta wrote about it seemed to suggest it worked for everyone with 21 out of 23 patients achieving remission. However, it can cause severe diarrhoea in some and also neuropathy and for others it makes no difference to pred dose so certainly not that good a success story anecdotally. There is a study ongoing in the Netherlands - Covid interrupted that for a bit.
THANkyou for the infor,much appreciated
