Hi all, I've been taking a Magnesium Citrate supplement for well over a year now (got a good supply) and originally started it for heavy, restless legs and sleep problems. I have now come to the end of my supply and 4th day in, without it, the symptoms I've described have re-appeared! My question is, which Magnesium is the best for these symptoms? I ask this because despite Citrate being successful, I have learned there are many other forms of Magnesium and I wondered if anyone had experience with any of them before I spend my pennies?
Which Magnesium?: Hi all, I've been taking a... - PMRGCAuk
Which Magnesium?
Magnesium is magnesium, irrespective of what salt you use and which salt is more relevant to other conditons it is claimed.

Bu it comes down to which works well for your needs - and doesn't cause GI problems!!!!!
I had ongoing GI issues from taking Magnesuim Citrate which resolved when I switched to another kind. Now I also take a smaller dose with no unpleasant side effects.
Thanks for your reply...I usually suffer from GI issues but haven't had problems with Citrate... maybe because I take lansoprazole too
Doubt that would stop it - magnesium has a laxative effect because it attracts water into the gut but it varies from person to person
Yes apparently so..I 1st took Citrate (I've read Citrate has stronger laxative effect) because of that reason but It has never had that effect on me...it takes a lot of powders and tablets to avoid constipation...super sluggish bowels unfortunately
Needless to say I can't take the magnesium I could have prescribed so effectively free - I need the fancy one that is not only not covered but not the cheapest!!!!
Flippin heck...thats typical! Can be quite pricey too! ...I do think it's worth every penny though, it has been proved that I can't do without it
I use it to calm down arrythmia episodes. They use it on the ward - you set off the ECG alarm and a nurse used to appear with a tiny bottle - comes in little plastic tubes now, The bottle were the size used for Covid vaccines so I assume they had to be diverted!
Gosh, didn't know it was used this way in hospital! A simple little mineral like Magnesium!! Do you take it at night...I ask because I was told it was the best time, and of course for my legs...some say it can make you sleepy
If you have arrythmia/tachicardia problems you often get an infusion of magnesium but oral seems to help too, takes longer.
I sometimes take it before bed and it does appear to improve a night's sleep! Sometimes I wake in the night with an episode and take one them=n - and go back to sleep sooner or later and then sleep through to morning.
HI, i use the spray, it eases sometimes and is good to spray on the part of your body thars hurting ! Its Magnesium oil. Its not sticky and absorbs quickly . Same as yours but in spray form, Got it off the famous site A............n 🌷
I started with an expensive magnesium citrate supplement from the pharmacist - completely sorted my restless legs. Hubby thought it was ridiculous paying that amount and got more magnesium supplements from the cheapo supermarket. Restless legs haven't returned...🤔
It certainly does work for that horrible night time restless legs!! I think as long as its pure Magnesium it's good...apparently work s well with zinc but not calcium...the article PMR Pro shared is worth a read! Thank you!
