I am going to Australia and cannot work out what to do about timing of medication. I fly at 8 am , and arrive in Sydney the following day at 6 pm their time. The time difference between them and the uk will be ten hours. I take prednisone for pmr, usually around 9 am. I would like to be able to take meds at around the same time as I do here. Can anyone help please?

Depends which way you are going…

On my trip to NZ -usual dose am in UK (early early evening flight) -with stopover in Singapore. So took another dose with breakfast on plane before landing at Singapore … Left Singapore evening -arrived Christchurch mid morning -so again took dose with breakfast on plane. Back to morning (local time) next day.

So actually took 3 doses over 27hours rather than 2 -but no issues, and probably helped with travelling hassle…

Long before GCA, my son has always said put your watch (and mind) on local time in country of arrival -and work to that.

Worked for me.

On return flight -left their noon -so usual dose in morning -half a dose in Singapore airport or on plane with supper (flight left evening local time) and then usual dose with breakfast on plane just before landing 6am UK time.

Just sit down with times of flights and work out..always better to take an extra dose or half dose than not enough .

Most of all enjoy…and make sure all meds in original boxes and copy of prescription in your hand luggage -and book assistance-always a long walk at airport.

It is so confusing. What I do is: on departure day, take it at my normal time (9am) then take it upon arrival at 6pm Australia time (8 am uk time) . For my third dose I adapt to Australia time and take it at 9 am ( Australia time) this will be 3 doses in 62 hours rather than 72 hours but I think the extra supports me and I always feel fine. Taking it on an Australian morning can help to adjust to the time difference. I normally see all the beautiful sunrises though. I have adjusted what I do to your timings ( I hope). I go to see children and grandchildren in 4 weeks. (NSW). Have a wonderful time!

I think I did the same as you Jane, it was such a long time ago(3 years) but as you say a bit extra does help. Have a great time in Australia. I wish we were going but it won’t be for another year so 4 years since we have seen our daughter. So looking forward to it

La Niña seems to be ending here Jane, so hopefully you will experience better weather than we have been having. You must be excited about seeing your family at last. 💕

Apprehensive and excited! I can just imagine those little faces all alight, rather than crying when we go. It is a little local airport ( Coffs Harbour) so they literally see you coming down the steps of the plane. My eldest daughter lives in rural Raleigh and has been hemmed in by floods twice.

Yes, it’s been heartbreaking for lots of people. I will try to arrange perfect weather for you. 🌞🌻

Thanks Meggsy. I see it on the news and more is forecast. I’ll get to them, even if I need a Kayak.🚣‍♀️☔️

Enjoy your trip Jane. Sadly we won’t be going again but they are coming over. Younger granddaughter coming over in January with boyfriend - yes they’ve grown up so quickly haven’t they. Means we’re older too! Have a great time, how long are you going for? My other granddaughter (others sister) now lives in NSW with her partner. 🌺

6 weeks, with a couple of nights in Singapore and a couple of nights in Sydney so that we arrive a bit rested.I am glad they are there, it is apparently the safest place in the event of a Nuclear attack - totally self sufficient for food. Sorry - too much watching the news.

Oh Jane - yes stop watching the news! We always stopped over - good idea. Have a lovely time with lots of hugs. They’ll have grown up somewhat. Enjoy! Terri 🌺

Thank you! They are tall with Australian accents, bronzed and blonde. My DNA though. 🤗

I’m pleased to say they don’t have a part of my DNA which is pale skin ( natural red head I am) and hard to colour. They take after their mother sporting a lovely bronzed skin. 😎

There are many qualities that I glad mine haven’t inherited and a few that I regard with amused affection. I love your kind of colouring.
