As you are still proving positive perhaps you should report it -why didnā€™t you before? - although it may be too late for antiviral drugsā€¦.but it might be worth a try.

You can test positive for quite a while. I would get your chest listened to to make sure a sneaky bacterial infection hasnā€™t snuck in which may require antibiotics.

Yes sounds good advice ,will do šŸ‘šŸ‘

It's probably too late now to get antivirals as they need to started in the first 5 days. By reporting it I was lucky enough to be offered them within 24 hours of my positive test and had a follow up phonecall from the GP.Take care and hope you start to improve soon

So sorry Ronzy. Perhaps itā€™s time to report it if you arenā€™t on the mend. Get well soon!

Ohā€¦I thought we had to report it? Otherwise how do they know how much Covid there is in the country, get good stats & know what advice to give to the Govt!! It sounds to me as if you should consult a doctor, too! Get well soon.

They don't know - and I gather they ignore the cases that are reinfections. No-one who has no or next to no symptoms is likely to test either - they still have Covid. I saw something the other day that said cases were 127,000 but the real numbers far far more, multiples thereof.

Yes, I agreeā€¦though they did make an adjustment here to add in the second & third time cases & are supposedly adding those daily now! Prof Sir Chris Whitty said cases are rising todayā€¦& a few other comments, but itā€™s in a tiny little paragraph at bottom of BBC News & daily cases were well over 100,000 today. In fairness, Scotland & Wales are paying attention, both keeping some rulesā€¦but England???

PMRpro profile image

But Scotland has higher figures than at any point this far ...

Probably because they are counting the cases.

Pixix profile image

Yes, but they are counting cases, & people have rules, & report their cases! In England, people just treating it like they have a cold, not getting a PCR testā€¦but moaning like hell! Seem to forget they have been somewhere, probably without a mask, or just with a disposable one, & they only caught it due to their exposure! Itā€™s still a choice here, you can wear an FFP2 mask, be careful where you socialise or risk getting Covid. Iā€™m happy for people to resume their lives & some need to for their mental well-being, or to work, but why act like itā€™s unfair & with such surprise & annoyance when they catch it?!?!

Oh definitely - it is easily done. I had contact with Covid last week, or at least spent the afternoon with someone who tested positive 12 hours later. And had a hug. And we were sitting together in a cafe and then a hotel bar so no mask required. All triple jabbed. I've had no symptoms and haven't tested. agreed with the GP. I wear a mask when out and anywhere near anyone else, must when indoors still. Have I had it without knowing?

Pixix profile image
Pixix in reply to PMRpro

Possibly. More likely you were lucky, I reckon. Not every single person gets it from contact with positive person. Next door exampleā€¦her grandson got it from best friend at schoolā€¦gave it to his Mum & one sibling. No changes of living possible in small house, yet his Dad & two other siblings didnā€™t catch it (they all tested daily). Luck of the draw! Youā€™d only know if youā€™d done a daily test for some days after. Looks like a skiing holiday in Italy still has its drawbacks (yes, I remember the wave in England two years ago after people went half term skiing in Italy!!!) fingers crossed you had it & gained some antibodies!! S xx

My GP said two of her boys have had it recently - she hasn't had it at all despite f2f contact with patients all along.

I think it isn't too bad - but it all falls down on the idiots: he was in a gondola with others, within the rules. One woman didn't have a mask on (not allowed officially, the police check the queues) and yapped loudly all the way up. He had gone off for the famous "one more run" after the wife decided the light was too disgusting Sahara dust) - she obviously caught it from him but was far less unwell. But then - he always gets a ManCold on the Thursday of a trip skiing!!!! And retires to bed ...

Man colds are still around & will be forever, I guess! I always learned that there are more broken bones on that ā€˜just one more runā€™ & aimed to quite before it happened! Did love the mountains in winter, & miss it, but skiing was one of the first things I needed to give up!! Had a very weak left leg & could only turn one wayā€¦just doesnā€™t work like that, LOL!
