Bone Profile Result.

Hi all, at my Rheumatology appointment last October, they took a full blood count test which included a bone profile result. I just wondered if the following gives any indication as to the condition of my bones.

Alkaline phosphates: Value 56. Range 35-104.

Albumin: Value44. Range 34-50 g/L.

Calcium: Value 2.47. Range 2.20-2.60 mmol.

Calcium (albumin-adjusted): Value 2.50. Range 2.20-2.60 mmol.

Phosphate: value 1.00. Range 0.87-1.45 mmol.

I had a Dexa scan last week, my last one was in 2015 when they diagnosed osteopenia, so not sure what to expect from this one. I’m hoping someone in this brilliant forum might enlighten me on the above results. Thanks in advance.

P.S. my ESR was 5, & CRP was 2.6 so well within range.

Is there something there that concerns you? They all look within range to me.The Dexa scan will be interesting though.

Not concerned really, just interested in other people’s opinions. All within range is probably a good sign that the bones are healthy. Thanks for your reply Sophiestree.

Your results look like they are pretty satisfactory and there is nothing to worry about. I wish mine were like that!

All the bone profile really shows is there isn't anything funny going on in the metabolic sense that affects your bones. If the calcium was high, for example, it would suggest to them they should look a bit further.

The dexascan will be much more interesting ...
