Hi I had a dexa scan result come through and gp wanted to see me. I asked the receptionist what me my T score was and she said it was +1. Brilliant l thought, my bones are healthy. But when l saw my gp today she told me l have osteopenia in the mid range. I presumed that would have been -1 ir lower. I was given the option of medication x 1 a week but she said at this point it was optional, so l decided against it. As l had a lot to discuss with her l forgot to ask her about the results the receptionist fave me as they seemed to contradict each other. Any way l came out with her telling me l was to up my steroids as she feels the dose l am on now (7mg) is not fully managing the pmr and to get blood tests (esr etc) in Jan to see if there us any indication of inflammation still there. One last thing wishing you all a Merry Christmas!

Confused re dexa scan result.
Have you got the t-score numbers? If not, ask the receptionist for a print out. And bring them here. The receptionist may have been looking at z-scores, they might be +1, and it all depends WHERE on the osteopenia scale you fall - it runs from almost normal to almost osteoporosis.
Thank you, l phoned the surgery re getting a copy and was told l will need to bring id and fill out a form before l can get it but they can't do it now as they are short staffed. Apparently the gp can print it off and as l am seeing her in January l may just wait and ask her about the t scores then and get her to print it off. All l know is the gp said it was osteopenia and it was mid range.
I won't say what I think about not getting accurate representation of your own results. For all it would take for her to ask the GP and pass it on to you ...
If you hv the NHS app they shd download app all the results on the app so it will be visible for you to view.
Sadly, that app is not available in Scotland.
Have a look at this post [in FAQs] - might help-
It sounds like the receptionist thought it was a dash before the 1 not a minus!! As PMRpro says just ask the receptionist for a printout of the results, then you will really know.
