Hi me again! I have over last few days developed pain in my thighs at front. It feel like a burning restriction when I first stand with the pressure of standing almost stops me standing then eases. I did have a trapped nerve that’s eased with diazepam but back still hurts especially when walking. Sometimes so bad I have to stop and sit. I feel like I’m scared every morning what’s going to happen next. I’m still waiting on X-ray results. Anyone anything similar please. Thanks
Janet

I already have. Gp says it’s all part of pmr was just trying to get the human take on it if anyone else has experienced as it’s often said by lots of people on here that GpDon’t know best
Are they saying that painful thigh muscles are a side effect of steroids? I know that have lots of side effects but am surprised that is one of them, as normally that is what they are trying to help with the PMR.
Sorry Uglow - Ouch.I also have bad thigh pain, mine as a result of sciatica (I think). One sided only so I didn't think it was PMR related. I have been doing the exercises my PT suggested and it's much better, but the pain was so bad that I had to go back to 7.5mg, after spending months decreasing to 6. I cannot assess if my PMR is related. Backbends standing and on the floor seem especially helpful. Wishing you well.
I have noticed this burning sensation in from thigh too - but mild and intermittent. Also unilateral - right leg only. Assume it is meralgia related to PMR. Unless it gets worse I can live with it.
I had terrible trouble with my thigh/hip for months where I couldn't put any weight on my right leg, it was like a spasm like you get cramp in your calf but was there most of the time. Horrible. I do believe my GP said it was the pred at the time?Didn't you fracture a vertebrae I seem to remember? I wonder if you are subconsciously putting your weight more on one side and hence the back and hip issues.
So sorry about this horrid pain. I developed acute burning thigh pain last October; I went to an amazing physio who diagnosed bursitis in 3 places plus tendonitis. I did increase the pred from 4 to 10mg, but I think what actually really helped me was the expert physiotherapy. Within a week or two I had no pain at all, and have continued to be pain free. Of course we are all different and I do hope you find the correct diagnosis for yourself.
Hello again…you say you’ve developed this thigh pain over the last few days…wondering if you’ve forgotten you posted the same 5 days ago, and had 21 replies, & a lot of helpful comments, especially from Heron, who spent some time trying to help. I repeat my answer, though I guess it wasn’t helpful to you…yes, i have bad burning thigh problem, it’s quite a lot worse in past 3 days & I had difficulty walking this morning & have had several falls. The pain in groin, hips, thighs etc is so bad I can’t always walk, & shout out in pain. I thought I had sciatica, but think it’s something else, as I have new symptoms. I’ve already been through the things that could help us, like heat pads, warm baths etc. others had other suggestions. You are a step ahead of me as you have had a doctors appointment, physio & an x-Ray. My doctors appointment is still on Tuesday. I don’t believe mine has any connection with PMR, but this doesn’t mean yours doesn’t! 16 days ago you I saw you posted about sciatica on the bone health forum. 5 days before that you posted here that you had sciatica & asked if you should increase your steroids. I’m truly worried about you. Do you think you could be suffering from depression? You seem very confused indeed & don’t remember quite what’s happening. Perhaps re read your old posts with the helpful comments there. We are all trying to help you, but I think you need further trained medical help, I really do. Perhaps your x-Ray results will show a diagnosis. The problems I have were not improved by an increase in steroids two months ago. None of us are doctors here. We cannot give you medical advice or suggest a diagnosis, & we cannot tell you to increase or decrease your steroids. A lot of us have been trying to help you recently, & I feel we are not getting anywhere forward. I urge you to talk again with your doctor, perhaps request a face to face appointment…& tell him all the things you have told us, & that you really need help. Sadly, whatever our diagnoses are, they may have similar symptoms, but be quite a different diagnosis!! Please take care, & perhaps your husband can go with you & support you at your medical appointments? Just a suggestion, keen to help. S x
Very likely Meralgia Parasethica. I get really bad burning sensation in right thigh - also numbness. Sometimes unbearable and painful to touch. GP seemed to think I should just live with it.I find rubbing area sometimes helps.
