The NHS is at risk of becoming overwhelmed once again and I think it's all my fault. In the last 5 weeks I have had 2 FTF meetings with Rheumy and Nurse (complete waste of time), a telephone call with GP plus two calls from the surgery, one blood test, a Dexa scan, a Gastroscopy and tomorrow, a complete eye check at a different hospital. The thing is, I'm in pretty good nick - apparently. So sorry everyone who has been waiting for appointments, please feel free to vent your wrath on me. Happy Christmas everyone.

But you are unlikely to contribute to the potential January peak overwhelm ...
Dear Flivoless.
Like you I have called on my the NHS countless times since the advent of PMR in July 2020, and then this year too with kidney stones and hospitalisation twice.
Nobody wants to be ill, and use the NHS, but it was necessary for us & it’s really good that you are in good shape, that’s the main thing, so don’t feel guilty at all, although like you too I did feel guilty, and hopefully mitigating those feelings I gave a gift to my local NHS hospital for their wonderful care and kindness.
So enjoy 😉 your Christmas and feeling well. 🤶 👏🌈
So it was you! Using up all the resources. 😂
Perhaps that is the strategy we should adopt?
hahahaha. glad results came out OK
I think I have had a similar amount of tests recently. For my Dexascan yesterday the hospital was packed. I have decided if you don’t need a bed or an ICU you are fine. My next door neighbour had an operation to remove her ovaries on Monday and that seemed all sweetness and light as far as the NHS was concerned. She did not need a bed though.
I have had 3 scans on my abdomen since July , an ultrasound, CT and an MRI. I saw the gastro consultant face to face ( normally a phone call) so I feel very lucky too. I am in the system already so that probably makes a difference. I think new referrals wait much longer to see someone.
I really must be the chosen one. Today I received yet another call from my Surgery, not from from just anyone but the head honcho GP, following up on my gastroscopy. Unbelievable service which I don't really need and certainly don't deserve but I'm very grateful all the same.
