oh what fun I have had. 5 nights on the Christmas Markets Cruise with daughter, husband and our two friends. Upgraded suite to share with a a coughing husband caught caring for the sicklies on the Out of Hours, fortunately Covid negative. Freezing cold, warmed by mulled wined in all the ports. Came back in time to order the meat to find just one chicken left in the butchers but fortunately another one had plenty at twice the price. Nasty hacking coughing together with screaming sciatica, told I had caused it by coughing. Couldn’t get up and down stairs, took Codeine ( good stuff) and Amiltryptline
Eventually getting better. Surgery rang for my Medicines Review, not the time to mess with my drugs but opportunity to get some 2.5 Preds
Forced to go next door for food and join daughters guests, one my opera friend who is off to visit her brother in Italy and is obsessed by problems in society in particular the digitally excluded, ( so am I but not at the moment) and the other a retired Consultant who says I must keep moving, I know that and I will as soon as it stops hurting. Son in law has had 4 days non stop cooking and no longer cares about transgender issues and never wants to see another sausage roll, the dog looks longingly hoping he can get even more left over meat. Daughter struggling with her cataracts and Stethoscope Man has returned thinking he can now relax but he can’t, our daughter in law’s grandmother needs him to listen to her chest.
I can’t remember what prednisolone I took or when but I expect I will survive. I have an appointment for an Osteopath in a couple of weeks, don’t know what he does but will try anything. In the meantime cough is better
I hope you all have a peaceful and a healthy New Year. Look after yourselves 🥂🥂

Well! It can’t be said that your Christmas was uneventful! You could earn quite a bit if you sold this as a Whitehall farce. I laughed even when I shouldn’t have….. sorry 🤭.
It just gets better. I have found that after 8 and a half years of this fun and frolics we just have to make the best of of it. My neighbour has AMD and her sight is going, makes me grateful for my life.
The previous chef in the village hotel has ALS. He was working up to last Christmas, was able to "walk" to the table outside in October, a couple of weeks ago he was in a wheelchair and couldn't smoke without his partner holding the cigarette. They aren't old.
I have done a bit. Himself can’t do much with his injured knee, at least he can’t go tending the sicklies leaving me on my own. Suggested we tried to get downstairs together!
No sign of daughter with breakfast, went back last night to put flannel on her head to recover from the opera singing saviour of the world and other friend together with 2 chilli eating couples and 3 pizza making little boys. Wish the dog was more useful
The leg is agony helped only by the Codeine
At least I am back on track with my correct dose of Prednisolone.
I wish I could write as wittily as you do. I agree about the Codeine!
Regarding the stairs, get a stairlift (Stannah or other makes). My MIL had one during her last year on this mortal coil, and it made a huge difference to her quality of life (and ours, we couldn't have got her up the stairs otherwise!).
Have a Peaceful, Prosperous, and Highly Amusing New Year! Then you can cheer us all up again when you regale us with the tales of holiday season.
me too. One of us is too big for a Stena, we have room for a lift so I am going to make preliminary enquiries. To think it’s come to this however at least we can make choices 🥂
6months on I've your post popped up. EW it is hysterically funny, you have made my morning! I'm back on the pills after a year off and they're just beginning to play havoc with my sleep!I came across yours in "related posts" following my 3am wake up. Hope life has calmed down somewhat, and what progress on the lift? 🥰
Moved on from the lift to worry about my impending demise from kidney failure as I was told the Doc Shop was ringing me to discuss my creatin levels. Armed with my new found knowledge from Dorset Lady and PMRPRO I was ready for my telephone consultation only to be told it’s not my kidneys it’s my magnesium that is low. All that pointless worry for nothing It’s been low before and the tablets give me diarrhoea. Such fun. I also routinely take my blood pressure and noticed an alert, nothing too dramatic and the low thyroid wont help, so I now need an ECG. While I had him on the phone I asked him if I was fit to fly as I am off to Montenegro with my daughter on Sunday.
A week under that cabana interspersed with plunging myself in the sea will sort me out. I don’t think it helps the magnesium but who cares.
I will think about you all and so grateful to have you.🥂🥂
