Eye update

I was back with my ophthalmologist yesterday and, happily, by pressures have reduced from a whopping 32 down to 22 (which is just 1 above the tope end of "normal"). So it seems that the Timolol drops are doing their thing. He is now certain that the pressure increase was (is?) down to the Pred and the moon face syndrome putting fat where it's definitely not wanted and my eyes will continue to improve as I reduce the Pred. As far as the Superior Limbic Keratoconjunctivitis (Theodore’s SLK) goes, he believes that it will abate as pressures lower, as they are causing eyelids to continue to cause irritation to the irritation, but to continue with the Hycosan drops (and, of course, the Timalol. And talking of eyelids, it seems that my upper lids are dropping back and lower lids dropping forward and may refer me to an eyelid specialist (I never knew such a person existed) next time he sees me in 4 months time. I'm left wondering what the next bit of me to fall off will be.

Lovely to hear from you don't forget what ever it is always get a second opinion if your not happy get a third you know your own body better than anyone else. My GP retired after 25 years and do you think I could find one that suited me - I wandered around from Dr. to Dr. for nearly 12 months. I can't believe what is happening to our medical system. I don' t blame the Doctors I blame the system and the way they are being trained. I can't believe what has happened since we were all laid low by the dreaded COVID. Finally I have found a doctor that seems to care and speaks to you as if you are normal human being as when you they speak down too you when you are older and don't seem to care whether you are alive or dead. I really think it isn't a calling with half of them it is just the prestige of it all and the money.

I would like to wish you and members of Health Unlocked and especially the Volunteers a very Merry Xmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year to you all. Love and Best Wishes.

My husband had floppy lid syndrome and had to have some of the skin removed

floppy kid syndrome? Another new one on me.

Is it a case of Jack of all trades master of none perhaps? As with many PMR related blood readings etc, with eye pressure readings it's difficult to know where on the "normal" scales is ones own normal.

Sorry should have said floppy lid

Ah, but there is a "floppy kid syndrome" apparently and, wait for it, it affects goats. Sometimes caused by drinking too much milk. I wonder if this could cause floppy lid?

Exact same thing for me. My latest appointment my pressures were down to 12 & 14 for left and right eye respectively. The Left eye was receiving the Timolol 0.5% 2x/d. It started at 31 and in 2 weeks dropped to 24 under treatment. Was told there is cross reactivity which is why my right eye also decreased. Now that I’m between 2.25 & 2.00 mg Pred it’s low enough to see if I can be off of it. Going back after 2.5 weeks to have pressures rechecked, hopefully I’m done with it. Pre-Pred the pressures averaged 22 to 26.

Lucky you. I wish my eye pressure would go down. 25 and on two sets of drops. Hard to get appointments. I usually have to write to get one even though they say they must see me in two months. They are busy like all medical people.

I have had two eye surgeries (macular holes x 2, cataracts fixed) and never knew there was an eyelid specialist.

I’ve had a horseshoe retinal tear lasered, took the retinal specialist about 5 mins after dilating my eye. The practice is literally around the corner from the Advanced Eye Care where my Optometrist and Ophthalmologist (who does the surgeries, eyelid etc.). She removed the excess skin and fat from inside both upper eyes. Stitches out in a week. Can’t tell I ever had surgery, my eyes look like they had previously before the upper lids got droopy.
