Thrush

Hi.i know I have spoken about this before,but it getting very annoying,don't seem to be able to get rid of it thrush.i have tried allsorts,gel,liquid,mouth wash.it is very sore,like I have burnt it.any avice would help me.thanks.

Hello, what is the appearance of the sore bits? Has it changed over time? Do the sore bits change or are they in the same place? Has a doc seen it and has it been swabbed?

Hi.have rung drs this morning,suppose to be calling me back.havent seen Dr.yet as don't think they do face to face at moment.

As Snazzy says - I hope you have been treating it under the doctor and not just buying OTC remedies? There are other things it might be and once a fungal infection gets entrenched it needs more robust treatment.

One of the problms is that it isn't just an oral problem - once it gets a hold it can be all the way through the gut and just reinfects the mouth as you clear it with topical treatments. Sometimes you need a course of tablets - not just one day.

I had a similar experience a while back (before Covid), tried mouthwashes etc - eventually saw a doctor who told me it wasn’t thrush but Geographic Tongue. Unattractive but benign.

No treatment, you’re stuck with it! But frankly once I was told it wasn’t thrush I relaxed and just forgot about it. Look it up on Wikipedia…
