Predisolone without food

Do you think it would matter if for once I had predisolone without breakfast as I usually do? I have a very early hospital appointment for an operation. With no food after 12 midnight. I can have only water. I really don’t want to not have my usual 3mg. The other alternative I can think of is taking it before midnight but not really happy with that.

Hopefully one day with just water should be okay….but if you do have digestive issues normally then I’d be inclined to take at last thing tonight. Hope all goes well tomorrow…and maybe take extra with you in case required.

It really shouldn’t be a problem & better to take your dose when you are used to it. Good Luck with your Operation - don’t forget to tell them that you are on Prednisolone, what dose & for how long. Best Wishes

Would you have an opportunity to ask your surgeon or anesthetist? They might be able to give it with anaesthetic intravenously. Good luck with your operation. I do get stomach pain 6 years on, this influences my opinion.

Has your surgeon talked about getting a steroid boost for the surgery? I have had back and shoulder surgery and each time the anaesthetist gave me a boost to help my body cope with the added stress. I guess it depends what surgery but it might be worth checking.

Yes I agree contact the hospital. Each surgery I had they gave me a steroid boost thru the IV.
