How stupid can I be? Down happily to O.75mgs in 2 years 2 months and quartering the 1mg. Today I accidentally dropped the quarter. It landed in the bag of dry pelleted dog food, as I was then going to feed the dawgs. I could see it quite clearly and anyone would obviously get some tweezers to pick it out, but no, silly me, relied to pick it out with fingers. Naturally it has disappeared. I then started picking out a tablespoonful at a time and then checking it, then put into a separate bag. After half an hour, no sign. So I have de I to open a new bag, and will then a tablespoonful of the dodgy bag. The alternative of course is to feed them and perhaps kill one of them. I have now decided to see the funny side of it.
dogs don’t like Predisolone!: How stupid can I be... - PMRGCAuk
dogs don’t like Predisolone!
As dogs are pass masters at sorting out pills from their food I would not worry too much about a quarter of a pill. Steroids are given to dogs as a medicine as an anti inflammatory.
Dogs are often prescribed people meds, so don’t toss the kibble. Too pricey! Tramadol, Gabapentin, Steroids, Anti-depressants, etc.
No panic there mine was on 25mg/day
You won’t kill your dog… as stated many are given steroids for canine illnesses, and like many animals are also very adept at spitting anything out they don’t like the taste of….
Honestly doubt 1/4mg pred would damage your dog - pred is used for dogs too and as piglette says, getting the tablets down them requires a lot of ingenuity!
Always wrap mine in ham, they know full well the tablets are there but are happy to accept the compromise.
I did the opposite years ago. One day I took my poodle dog’s pills and went to work before I realized it. Both the dog and I had no ill effects! I did have a good laugh. I wasn’t even old then but had a household of distracting teens.
That made me laugh out loud!!
I am glad you got a laugh out of my mistake. We all need some laughs along the way. Take care.
yes indeed we do. I know over the first year or so of this awful disease laughs were in short supply. I think the first one I had was one morning I opened the fridge door and there was a basin of potato peelings . I announced to the world “who put these in here?” And as I live alone, I burst out laughing.
I don't think this would Significantly 'Hurt' your animals- though I would, just check. with a Vet....... Chocolate, which is actually Toxic to dogs (actually true) would, I'm sure, Stress Them More. (Hand Up, dog owners, who have had Doggy Sick AND Doggy Poop 'everywhere', when Bowzer 'Found' the chocolate buttons!)
Best Wishes, to you all

Oh thanks for the laugh today. I can totally picture you carefully searching through the pellets of dog food. That's devotion for sure! Smile.
