Pretty much constant nausea

Hi everyone,

Having stopped hydrocortisone recently following a long taper, I'm awaiting a synacthen test to check cortisol levels. The levels were low following prednisolone.

However, I feel sick most of the time, most of the day.

Thought of food turns my stomach. I'm still eating but only v simple food, porridge, scrambled eggs etc.

Bi Lateral shoulder pain is alive and well (hurts to pull my trousers up 😭😂) and nausea, often fatigued around 4-6.

Is this PMR or is this more likely adrenal insufficiency?

Thoughts welcome.

It sounds like you have not quite knocked the PMR on the head yet. You really need to go back to taking a small dose of steroids to see if you can get rid of the pain. When you take the Synacthen test they may want you to adjust your dose before the test probably to zero.

I’d say suspects are adrenal insufficiency due to rapid stoppage of Hydrocortisone, or Celecoxib. Is there a reason why you have to be completely without corticosteroid instead of just a 24 hour stoppage, having been seen to be low when you stopped Pred? Celecoxib can have this effect even if you’ve been ok up to nowdrugs.com/sfx/celebrex-side....

Have you had a liver and kidney blood test in recent weeks?

Thanks, I had been considering the same point, that celebrix/coxib might be making me feel sick.I take 2*200mg/day, so I'm thinking of trying 1*200 +1*100 & winding it down.

Given I'm no longer taking pred, or HC, I'm m not convinced in the anti-inflammatory benefits of Celecoxib.

On a different tack, ginger is good for treating nausea. Or try travel sickness tablets. Cinnarizine marketed as Stugeron in uk is my preferred option and has fewer side effects or contra indications.

Thanks for the tip! I used Joyrides on my first ever cruise as we set sail in a storm. My family refused to let me out of the cabin because I was high as a kite and acting very weirdly as I was convinced I had to keep holding my eyes wide open and show my teeth to everybody.
