I m now on a lower dose of pred 10mg,but feel I shouldn’t go into work.
They are being nasty about me not going in!

Well that is rather selfish of them, particularly as you are in a vulnerable group. It puts you in an impossible situation because this is your home as well. I think they would be on dodgy ground in an employment tribunal for constructive dismissal. Unfortunately we now incur costs for tribunals. My future plans would include seeking alternative employment with a better employer. Are you double vaccinated? What would be their attitude if you contracted Covid? Is it possible to do your job in protective gear in a way that doesn’t expose you directly? Will they supply protective gear? Being bullied at work is a serious matter legally. You could contact ACAS for some impartial advice. Are you fit for work? Do you need this job? You could seek advice from the Jobcentre too.Good luck! I am sorry that you find yourself in this awful situation. Do you get the Lady Magazine? Great jobs often appear there.
I ve had both vaccines,so fingers crossed I ll be ok.
Just had call from my doctor saying I need to self isolate from them so it’s all been written down so if I need any back up it’s there.
I putting myself first for a change!
Funny you should say the lady magazine!
I had a call from them last Thursday asking if I was looking for a job,I wasn’t at the time but thought I d see what it was,so I drove up Saturday morning for an interview and just a few minutes ago had a call from the lady magazine saying they are offering me the position!
It’s a fantastic job and very interesting too.
I have a lovely lady who does most of the cleaning and I ll help her,but my main job is cooking.
I used to read it and imagine myself in another life, looking after children in a villa in the South of France 😂. I would be sorely tempted if I were you.
Strangely I got my first 'proper' job through the Lady magazine - and it was looking after children in the South of France! I was aged 17 (didn’t want to do a 6th year at school). I always feel that that job changed the direction of my life (in a good way). Didn’t know the magazine was still on the go. It seemed very old fashioned even back in the mid 1970s when I got that job!
😀 A real turn up for the books for you! My sister lives on the Essex/Suffolk border and loves it. You deserve this. I wish you happiness and contentment in your fresh start.
If you have been in close contact with her since (including) Sunday I presume you will need to self isolate for 10 days, whatever the family think. Secondly with your Autoimmune disease exactly as Jinasc says.
New Job, new life and in a 2 bed cottage............bingo.
Is the 2 bed cottage empty now? If so pack up your bags and on your way and let the present people get on with all they deserve...............hope they are useless at cooking😈
What an unreasonable employer. Fantastic you have been offered another job. Your current employer will not improve, so I do hope things go well. You can get hold of a PCR test at gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test they should deliver to you.
Well done CL👍 hope you can move on to a wonderful life and a lovely new home asap. Keep taking the tablets as they say!! And I hope the PMR goes as smoothly as I'm sure your new life will. 💝
Definitely do not go to work!! You should self isolate and get tested. It's not fair that you are being pressured. We all need to look after each other at times like these. All the best.
When I read your post I had a response in my head ready to type out, then as I read further on, I saw that everything had turned out for the best for you! I’m so pleased, and well done on being brave enough to apply for another job, as it takes a lot of courage, especially with PMR. Sometimes it’s easier to stay put and avoid the upheaval, but you took that step, and now you’re ready for a wonderful new change with lovely accommodation, where hopefully you’ll be appreciated and supported. ☺️
Isn’t it amazing how life can change in the wink of an eye! All the very best Canarylady, enjoy your new life x
Tough call. Have you contacted your M.D? They might be able to offer better info. I do know if it was me, I wouldn't go. Life is too short to risk a serious illness for one day of pay (as much as it might be needed as I do understand that).
It does not cease to amaze me how evil and self centered some people have become. I have a friend who works at our local vets office One of her co-workers came to work with Covid, and she knew she had it. She infected my friend who got the illness and nearly died from it. 5 days in hospital with pneumonia. Your boss's inability to envision you ill and hooked up to a ventilator is a symptom of a sickness of self absorption that has infected both sides of the Atlantic. It is worse than Covid, and more heart breaking. Do not go near those people until your doctor say it is okay.
I suspect if the person was reported to the police she could be charged if they could prove she knew she had it and went to work. She'd be in trouble here - even someone breaking quarantine and just walking down the street will be charged here.
