Should I go to work?

I’ve just found out that there are several residents with Covid at the care home I work at part time. I haven’t been informed by management who will be expecting me in this afternoon. Will I be putting myself at risk with having PMR? and if so can I refuse to go in?

Turn up with a proper mask on and see what they say. I suppose they think it is just a minor cold-like illness. Whether you are at risk is an open question - I'm sure you have been in contact with people with it many times. But how unwell you are seems to have no rhyme or reason - people have had it recently and really suffered who don't have PMR and aren't on pred whilst members of the forum have been fine.

Thanks PMR pro, you always give such sound advice. I’ve managed to get a phone appointment at 2pm ( only phoned the surgery at 1pm, luckily they are always so helpful) I’ll see what GP advises but am thinking I’ll wear a mask as you recommended and be extra vigilant about hand washing and wearing gloves.

Thanks

I recommend wearing an N95 mask or similar as Covid is airborne.

Editing to add that if it was me, I wouldn't go into work. This is mainly because I'm going to be visiting my elderly mother soon and have to be very careful about her health, but as well, mine.

Thanks for your reply. I’m in process of tapering down to 7mg but pain in knees and shoulders has returned so might go back to 7.5 for a bit longer. I’ve phoned the surgery and GP is going to phone at 2pm. I’m due in work at 3.30pm so will see what he advises.

I don’t know how I would have coped without all the brilliant advice given on this group.
