Ear infection again

Hi all, well I'm on my 4th prescription for antibiotics since January for ear infection, never had so many antibiotics until now, cant remember ever having ear infection.

Is it a proven infection? What are the symptoms? Both PMR and GCA can cause ear symptoms.

Seen nurse this afternoon lots of fluid and all red swollen and can see infection, pain behind ear, neck, ear full of I'm guessing infection when wake in morning. I was thinking the pain just up from ears was from my glasses being to tight

I had a run of bad ear infections before my PMR diagnosis several years ago. My ear would swell until it closed up. A wonderful old school consultant saw me at the hospital every month and cleaned out my ears. He kept me infection free for a year or so. When he retired his replacement didn’t think it was a good use of his time, so back came the infections. I think it affected my general health.

Nurse did mention something along those lines to me, that if I keep getting them they would probably start to flush them out, but didn't think to ask how long or how many times before they might consider doing this. Never mind 1 thing at a time

Ask if you can try Otomize spray. I used to get regular ear infections and once so badly swollen but they couldn’t get any drops in! My doctor switched me to this spray and I now have it on repeat, and use it for a couple of days when I feel it coming on. Mine is triggered by swimming or getting hair shampoo in my ear. I have never had major problems since using it.

It is very effective but not good for long term use. I would beg for it.
