Good news

Had to share this with someone who might understand. I took my kayak out for the first time in over a year this past weekend. Short route, no current, but quite a major accomplishment. Used to be a big part of my life, but I hadn't really felt like even thinking about it until recently.

Well, of course, I went and spoiled all that progress by going overboard on the gardening two days later. 😆 Still smarting from that.

Ah! We never really learn 😉 do we, but at least you didn’t go overboard when you were kayaking!

I love Kayaking! I am so glad that you have got it back - just to glide along would do it for me.

Wonderful, exciting news! These returns to our life pre-PMR, even with adjustments, are so good for us physically and mentally. Hope you enjoy many more trips in the future.

Excellent, it sounds as if you are on the road to recovery. Bravo.

Wonderful to hear. Recently diagnosed (April 21) but had just got into kayaking before PMR hit and was determined that I wouldn’t abandon it. So thanks for the knowledge that it can be possible again. Happy Kayaking.

I've been kayaking for a couple of years, but did my first long-distance kayak right when my PMR/GCA hit. Had a great trip (a whole week out, 70+ miles) but was totally exhausted at the end of each day. When I got back, I basically slept through the whole weekend. It took a few more weeks with fevers, weight loss, cough, fatigue, etc. to really figure it out but, looking back, it was pretty obvious what the problem was when I was out there. One of these days, I'll do another one of those long-distance trips. Got em all planned out

My two favorite things to do....kayaking and mountain hiking (small ones). I just keep it easy and try not to overdo anything.

Pretty much had to give up the hiking, and that used to be a lot bigger than the kayaking. Did about a third of the Appalachian Trail, here in the States - about 600-700 miles. Now, it's just a couple of miles along the local greenways.

How wonderful! Nothing better than being on the water. I haven’t worked up the courage yet but thinking hard about it. Hope you get to go again soon!

Great post, always good to get positive news. Not been kayaking for many years now but many many many years ago I used to teach the children at school canoeing and sailing.

great to hear. Well done. I've lost my cycling due to this and am longing to get back but can only dream at the moment. Happy for you.

I've managed about 6 rides in a year and a half - all on the local greenway, which I can walk to from my house, all less than 10 miles tops
