Tomorrow we are all invited to express our thanks to those who have been so helpful to us during the pandemic. It goes without saying that we would wish to thank everyone connected with our health services for their dedication and tirelessness. But there are also countless numbers of kind people in all sorts of occupations who cross our paths every day and so it is the kindness of strangers that has so impressed me.
However, I have reserved my special thanks to all the members of this wonderful forum whose knowledgeable and helpful advice sustains me daily.
My very best wishes to you

Cheers and I will raise a glass, not only to NHS but as you so succinctly put it 'the kindness of strangers'.
The dustmen who cheerfully take away cardboard which I cannot cut up and unasked return my bins, the postman who not only delivers but takes my ready to post away, the delivery men who now know me as I take in stuff for those out at work, who press the doorbell and retreat further into the garden and who kept on telling me to wash the plastic wrapping in the porch and leave it till it dried.
PS I noticed your age and you beat me by 3 years and you will remember the times just after WW11 and the kindness which was there and perhaps like me you thought it had sort of vanished - well it was just hiding. 🥂
Hmmm! Very upperty in this area - just a nod or "Good day". Our DHL delivery person is extremely helpful though. She is supposed to leave parcels on a shelf in the entrance hall (since Covid) but if they are heavy she brings them up to us.
Yes. Let's raise a glass to that. The bookshop ladies who take my order over the phone and leave the books in my porch the very next day.
The neighbour who cuts my grass at the front (such a hassle for me to get the mower through the house from back to front).
The neighbour who will pick up my newspaper and prescriptions when needed.
And my excellent health centre - receptionists always answer the phone cheerfully, GP always rings back and miraculously seems very clued up on GCA, which I now realise is not always the case!
All my new friends on this forum!
And many others who perform little acts of kindness, and that includes my lovely children and grandchildren. Bless you all! I am so grateful.
Here’s to all of you that help us on this forum. I am so grateful for you help, advice and support. This goes to my neighbours, friends and the fabulous Wandsworth dustbin men too. Gems. All of you. 🏆
Hi, My thank you goes to all of you helping me through all the times I’ve needed help, my neighbour who every week provided me with a dozen eggs, in return I made him cakes and quiches, my local farm shop, Millets, who throughout the pandemic stepped up to the plate to organise on line shopping, I was so grateful to them as it took a while for the big supermarkets to prioritise the vulnerable, also my postman who carried on regardless, and of course my family who looked after me.
Well said ,i totally agree, would have been lost Without the forum , so glad i found it in the early days of my illness ! Thanks to all , but there are a certain few who owe my special thanks to. You know who you are . Best wishes and good health and happiness for the future. Best wishes Viv xx🥰
Fantastic photo with good caption!! Yes we need to find at least one thing to be thankful for each day. There are always loads if only we look- “ counting your blessings “ x💐
I'll drink to that myself~! This remarkable forum and its shared knowledge and support~!🥂🥂 To the strangers, as you say, people, who put caring and concern above all 🥂🥂 I'm also thankful for the technology that allowed us to stay connected and not be so isolated🥂🥂 I also think slowing our lives down was not entirely a bad thing.🥂🥂
I think I've had enough to drink, but never too much of the forum💖
You are right, Grammy 80; I've had to move over into the slow lane and it takes some getting used to. But....... there are compensations and I'm so grateful for the friendship I have been shown. Long may it continue!
I will second that one jayemmemm, man after my own heart, as we say! Cheers, but with a real ale rather than wine. I agree with your comment also about the kindness of strangers. I live in a rural area just outside a village and the way people here have pulled together and come up with so many ways of helping those who need it in the last 18 months is amazing. There are a lot of kind, caring people in this world. We just don't hear about them. Big big thanks.
