It's Volunteers Week 2023 and we'd like to say a big thank you to all our volunteers, particularly PMRPro and DorsetLady who put so much time and effort into answering questions and helping with the smooth running of our forum. And although she's stepped back from active duty, a thank you to MrsNails too.
There are so many volunteers who enable us to help people with PMR and GCA, from support group organisers to people taking calls on the helpline, to people sending out information packs and leaflets, and many more.
Thank you to every one.

We only have to read the large number of comments praising the volunteers to understand why the forum is so valued:
‘I’m so glad I found you!’
‘I don’t know what I’d do without you!’
‘You have saved my sanity!’
Our lovely volunteers - those we hear from every day and the volunteers behind the scenes are worth their weight in gold! I thank each and every one of them for making our little-known diseases easier to understand and to deal with.
I’ve been helped so very much by those invaluable volunteers, sometimes on the forum other times through private message. Their advice has helped me tremendously, such wonderful people giving their time and expertise. 🌹 🙏 thank you.
I've never posted, but want to add my thanks, as I read the blog frequently and have learned so much from this discourse and have recommended it to many. For the people who are replying and volunteering in this way: your work is helping so many!!
Agree. A HUGE thank you to everyone who helps us as we struggle, sometimes in the darkness . When I learn more, I'd like to help others in the same way. X
I'm so grateful to all of you, PMRpro, DL, Mrs N, who have been incredibly dedicated to giving advice and support as and when needed. There are also lots of others who regularly chip in with information, suggestions or kind words. Often all of those things. I so appreciate that feeling of knowing that there's someone out there at virtually any time of the day. Well done and thanks to all of you! 💐
I too would like to say a massive thank you to PMRPro, Dorset Lady and Mrs Nails. Your knowledge, kindness and unfailing support over the past four years has made my PMR journey over the past four years so much easier to cope with. I am sure there must be many people worldwide who feel the same way.
Thank you for being there for us. We would be lost without your excellent advice.💐🌺
Thank you to all the volunteers and a terrific thank you to PMR and Dorset lady, also to Mrs Nails in the past, who have been there to guide us all through worrying times. Bravo !
Adding my thanks. Couldn't have got through this last year without this group and like Fran says a special thanks to those who have faithfully replied with such thought out advice. Very grateful !
It’s just brilliant having our volunteers put in so much time to support us all. So grateful for all your expertise, kindness and intelligent responses, as well as endless patience. Thank you ❤️
Thank you, Volunteers. You are worth your weight in gold. Whether I post or not I always look every day and get so much from it. Couldn't do without you 👏👏
Thank you so much to all of the volunteers. You are our lifeline, our reassurance, a calming knowledgeable voice in the middle of our confusion and worry 💕
Thank you all so very very much for being there with your helpful advice , knowledge and kindness..I'm so glad i found you all..I thank you for giving up your time to help us get through the scary moments not knowing enough about our disease/illness..Thank you 💐💐💐💐
Thank you PMRPro, Dorset Lady and Mrs Nails and all our volunteers. Without your advice, knowledge and support we would be lost. Just knowing you’re there for us makes this difficult journey bearable. 🌸
I’m deeply grateful to PMRPro, Dorset Lady and everyone who has commented on any question I have raised. Your experience and knowledge are an invaluable support. Thank you very much.
Thank you very sincerely. Without your speedy advice managing these horrible symptoms things would have been really hard and confusing. Even my GP appreciated your replies to me when I showed them.
Dear Fran, Dorset lady & team , the best thing is we have gained valuable help in understanding PMR/GCA & are able to enlighten our GP's as to the best course of direction, esp in tapering. Huge thanks for all the blogs everyone! I never miss a peep!Bless you Mrs Nails too. Xx
Endorsed absolutely- can we suggest both to the palace ( or wherever these things happen!) for the next Honours lists? I’d also give Pro a well deserved Oxbridge honorary doctorate (or from a university of her choosing) and funding for more research if she wanted it. Bless both- and others too of course! - for help beyond price.
My day starts here, every day, though I don’t post often. Heartfelt thanks and gratitude.
Big thank you from me to PMRPro and DorsetLady for being there.
Your availability and helpful advice has enabled me to understand what PMR is, what it does to me, and most importantly, that I have probably got to live with it, manage it, and get on with life as best I can.
A BIG THANK YOU from me, too. I am in awe of the time and effort you volunteers put in to helping others, like me. I am not very active on the site but I read everything and have found all the information and guidance given to be so helpful.
I cannot thank ALL of the volunteers enough. For your personal perspective, various approaches I wouldn't have thought of on my own, and for the support that can only have come from the 'shoe pinch' level of shared experience. Thank you!
You give of your time, your wisdom, and share your lived experience with us to help us cope, adjust and heal. I have learned SO much from the volunteers on this site. THANK YOU! 👏
Thankyou for the straight talking and words of wisdom, which have helped since the initial shock and confusion of diagnosis, and the help in making decisions on this unwelcome journey.
I can't say anything that hasn't already been said so I will add yet another THANK YOU and say that you have all given comfort, support and such valuable advice to me and so many others. Never underestimate how much we appreciate you all.
Although I was desperately unhappy being diagnosed with PMR, 6 months in, being introduced to this site was a lightbulb moment. 7 years later I feel I’m nearly getting there and this site and the warmth and wisdom has been invaluable. The knowledge I’ve gained through PMRpro andDorsetlady in particular has been truly wonderful. A huge thank you from me!
Thank you all so much never a day goes by without me clocking in and learning and listening and drawing strength from you all .12 years pmr now would be so lost without you .I don't post much as feel I'm not confident to offer advise but I know you there if I need your support .truly grateful .
I sure don't know how I missed this. I cannot imagine where I would be without them. They have lifted me when I was down, gave me hope in the beginning when I saw NO light, ways to find answers and models to follow. When I grow up I hope to be just like them. Big 🫂 ♥️ xo You are queens!
Couldn’t agree more. The reason I’ve not posted that often is because most of my questions have been answered by these wise insightful ladies. One is not alone on this puzzling and distressing PMR journey thanks to their generosity and dedication and to the PMR/GCA charity.
Dorset Lady, PMRPro and many others - you are my safety net. Long may we all continue to have the benefit of your support. I and I’m sure many others are so grateful for your help.
Without your help, understanding , and patience a lot of people would be in an absolute mess, both physically and mentally. So thank you all so very, very much.
Apologies. Very late to the THANKYOU TO THE VOLUNTEERS PARTY. I appreciate you more than you know. I am PMR free but still tuning in. Always the best advice on a range of stuff. The only way to get thru aging independently (for as long as possible) is with your generous help. Plus the fact that I think of you as my friends. Mwah. x
