I’m booked in for my second jab on the 17th May and have not recovered from shingles so wondered if I should postpone until fully recovered?

Should I get the second jab?
Hi Griggser
I would recommend you get Medical Advice in view of what you have been through recently.
How long is it since you had your first vaccine?
Kind Regards
MrsN
It will be 12 weeks on the 17th. I have a telephone appointment with the pain later today and have booked a telephone appointment with my GP tomorrow.
Good, see what they think 🤔 let us know what they say.
How are you feeling?
The horrendous headache has gone, now it’s itching burning and numbness in and around my eye, right side of nose, forehead and scalp and a background headache. The itching / burning is constant and builds up to being almost unbearable. I’ve also being having some episode where when I get up from sitting I get the shakes, very disoriented and dizzy which last for about a minute. I usually wake about 2:30 each morning and instantly the itching burning starts so getting back to sleep is a challenge.
It sounds absolutely awful, you’ve had a torrid time Bless You.
I think l’d be cautious about adding the Vaccine to the mix as you are no where near well.
Get more than one Medical Opinion if you can....

Have you had your BP checked sitting and standing? Would be a good idea.
And yes - ask the doctors.
Yes I have my own monitor and my blood pressure is always good. Spoken to the pain clinic doctor who was very good. He asked all the right questions and listened well. He believed it’s now post herpetic neuralgia and after a lot of discussion has offered me a stellate ganglion block injection which I can have next Tuesday. I plan to discuss this with my GP tomorrow along with postponing my Covid jab. Fingers crossed.
I've always understood that with any jab, youshould be well before having it, would definitely ask a dr and if they are blase ask another!
Hi, I also had shingles (head and face) and suffered what you describe for what seemed an age. It was about week 6 before the headaches were mainly gone. I was due my first Covid jab about 10 days after that, and took advice from my GP. His view was that on balance I should get the jab as my pmr made it all the more important to protect myself from risks of Covid.
It’s all such a constant balancing act - on a tightrope - isn’t it! Good luck with your decision.
Grigster - I should add that apart from soreness around the site of the jab for a couple of days I had no ill effects at all
I would x
Uglow - it’s not that simple for Griggser he’s been through a great deal recently see PMRPro & my reply above.
Sorry it was just what I’d do.
No problem, but this isn’t straightforward as G was extremely poorly & is still suffering. He’s seeing his GP today, l’m sure he’ll update us later on the Medical Advice.
So I had a really good chat with my GP this morning and have decided to have the stellate ganglion block next Tuesday. I have rearranged my second Covid jab for the Friday next week. Of course I have the option to rearrange the the Covid jab if I don’t feel up to it. Thanks for all the comments.
Good Way forward l think, good luck with the ganglion block.
Take Care & Say Hello to your Good Lady.

I'm so sorry to hear about the rough time you've been having. If it's any consolation, and when you're in pain like yours nothing is much of a consolation, but I'm convinced that I got PMR after having the shingles vaccination! Up until then I was 100%. So prevention also has its downside! I hope you feel better soon and get over this. Good luck!
Always ask your doctor. 🌞
I hope you recover soon. All the best 🌸
My mother developed shingles on her forehead and around one eye two years ago after removal of a growth and skin graft from the forehead. She has the burning and itching most at night. She has found great relief applying a bit of diclofenac gel (US brand Voltaren).
