I take calcium citrate with d3 to avoid constipating effect of adcal which is calcium carbonate. Wonder if that would help?

Have an honest appraisal of your diet for calcium content. If it is good enough you can probably cut down on the calcium supplement but I would get a higher dose vit D only supplement instead. There are other forms of calcium supplement besides calcium carbonate, it is the cheapest, so look at others if you need more calcium. AdCal and co are a bit like taking Rennies with everything you eat!My husband has terrible problems with Adcal type stuff - but no bother at all with calcium citrate but it is more expensive, not least because we have to pay for it ;)

I no longer take Adcal. My Rheumatologist has prescribed the tablet Risedronte 35 mg once a week. If you take a good quality D3, with a K2 and Magnesium you should be okay. I've been diagnosed with osteoporosis.

If you are taking a bisphosphonate then you also need to take calcium unless you have a high level in diet. Otherwise the bisphosphonate directs calcium to the bones and may leave the rest of the body depleted. Low blood calcium levels can be dangerous. If you aren't taking calcium you need to keep an eye on your blood calcium levels. My husband gets Prolia/denosumab injections because he can't swallow oral medication - or calcium carbonate and his diet is low in calcium, the specialist was insistent he MUST take calcium of some sort. In fact, the normal supplemental dose of calcium citrate is too much for him so he is on half. Calcium levels can be very critical.

My recent blood test my calcium level was fine. I read different opinions on calcium. Too much can actually weaken bones and create kidney stones and interfere with how our hearts and brain work. I suppose it's taking the correct level when needed.

And the Vitamin K2 you are taking should be helping with that! :)

I feel the same after taking Advil. Going to speak to my GP next week. Xx

Advil and AdCal are two totally different things. Advil is an NSAID painkiller, ibuprofen, and Adcal is a calcium and vit D supplement.

I took Adcal for a long time, as prescribed by my dr and rheumatologist. Unfortunately I have found out that the dose of Vitamin D3 is woefully low in them and therefore not considered to be ideal.Vitamin D3 10,000iu is what I take now and is inexpensive.

Hope that helps.

I get an IV once a year called reclast, it takes about 30 minutes at my Dr's office. My osteoporosis has improved to osteopenia. The pills made me sick too.
