Hi folks. I'm new to this forum but just wanted to add my two penn'orth to the comments about the covid vaccine. I had the AZ a few weeks ago and had no side effects whatsoever. 😊 Currently down to 9mg pred.
PMR appeared just after my 60th birthday. Climbed the Sugar Loaf in Wales on the day and a few weeks later the stiffness came on. Prednisolone at 15mg gave me flexibility back (I'm building our house so I really need it!). Have tapered down to 5mg but came back up to 10 recently when the symptoms came back. Sneaking down more slowly now.
Good to meet you all.

If you have problems at a similar dose more than once - it is your body telling you you have arrived at your interim destination. It doesn't mean you won't get lower, just not yet.
Lots of people aren't aware of the fact they aren't reducing relentlessly to zero - but looking for the lowest dose that works as well as the starting dose did. And that includes doctors
Just been thinking back - I did a high level walk here, about 2000m, the autumn of the summer I had had the first signs of PMR, not that I realised that at the time. Some weeks later I couldn't use the cross-trainer because of thigh muscle pain. There are theories that over-exertion can trigger PMR - it can certainly make it worse at later stages.
I too over exerted myself at the gym (after months of inactivity), and the next day woke up with terrible pain and stiffness in knees and thighs. Coincidence?
Morning, nothing to add on the medical front as far more knowledgeable people than me have already contributed. Likewise for me regarding the OAZ jab. Love Grand Designs and must admit the thought of building your own is very appealing but not possibly with our "bug". Your not putting in a finish date made me smile as, in the distant past, when I indulged in a lot of sailing I never used to put in a destination in the navigation log, until we actually got there.
Glad you found your way to this forum...it’s proven invaluable for me, especially in the early days after being diagnosed with PMR. Thanks for sharing a bit more about your situation.
Given your activity level, do be mindful to take breaks and listen to your body. Too much, too fast can result in DOMS.
