Vaccinations for 65s and over

If you're 65 or over it seems you can now book an appointment on-line. I am not sure if the 60s and over can also book currently. You will need your NHS Number and it will tell you if you can book.

We are really very behind in Canada. Big mixup to say the least. Good luck and good health to everybody, stay safe 🙏🏻

I’m 64 with quite a few underlying medical conditions & cant book...& desperate to get it! I read a post similar to yours yesterday & leapt into action, found my NHS number etc, got as far as date of birth & then told not available to me. I’ve getting quite depressed by the huge amount of posts on the subject, & may leave this forum for a while, tbh.

Don’t worry. Lots of us are in the same boat as you. It’s understandable that those who have had the vaccine have been posting to give feedback to others whereas the rest of us aren’t going to post to say we haven’t had it yet... So it just seems like everyone else has had it but you. You’re not alone. Hang in there! 💐

I am..it was just the ‘I’m not sure if over 60s can book’ bit...I know piglette means very well, but it sends lots of us hopeful 64 year olds scurrying to the Internet with hope in our hearts, only to find it’s no good...again & again! Well, for me anyway. I’m on other groups & it’s the same there...or somebody posts that they are only 62 with no medical conditions & just received their jab! While I’m ranting I just wish people would read the pinned information first before asking if they can have the jab if they have ‘x’! That’s all, take care, I live in an area that’s way way behind & know I need to be more patient than most! But I mean no nastiness at all, piglette, like others, are only trying to help everyone!! S x

to be fair, piglette did say if 65 or over. Different area have different age profiles, to say nothing of variation in supplies. My 96 yr old mother was surrounded by people she know 10yrs and more younger who had it before her. Overall, they have got on with vaccination programme pretty quickly and hopefully it wont be too long for the 60' gp.

Oh yes, I did say I wasn’t complaining about piglette...she just said she didn’t know about the 60’s, which sent me scurrying off in hope! To no avail! I can’t believe the number of posts about the vaccine still coming in, i’m sad people are still worried about side effects or whether they can have it with polymyalgia.

Pixix I know you, like many others, are desperate for a vaccine but the heading I wrote said “Vaccinations for 65s and over”. I should imagine that the rate they are going you should soon have your contact, meanwhile you can always try the website every so often to see if they have got to your group yet.

Unfortunately, some areas are behind others. Our hub wasn’t set up until others had been open for 3 weeks, so some time to wait yet, but get excited & try each time I see the words ‘over 60’s’...We've been shielding since 1 February last year, so just a little keen to get ‘jabbed’! Thanks, S x

If you use the government on line website you are offered several locations around your area. They seem to be different to the ones offered by the GPs’ surgeries.

I am 67 and going for my vaccination in a few hours. I got a text on Wednesday evening and booked it straight away. I also got a letter yesterday saying to go online to book it unless I already had an appointment
