Anyone over 50 can now book booster jab

OVER-50s can now automatically book a booster if they have not received an NHS invitation within a week of becoming eligible for the third jab, the Health Secretary confirmed yesterday.

The change follows complaints that many old and vulnerable people were being turned away from clinics because they had not been sent an official invitation – despite it being six months since their second dose.

From the Telegraph today 22 Oct

“When they get on to the national booking service, it says that they’re not eligible if they haven’t received an invitation letter, and if they call 119, 119 is telling them that it can’t override the system. So will the minister please urgently look into this and fix the system?”

Ah, but unless something has changed today it never includes Scotland. We do not have NHS numbers as patients but have CHI numbers. We can’t get vaccines in England as we do not have NHS numbers and can’t register as temporary patients in England to get vaccines either. The word National does not apply.
