Pelvic fracture

Finally have an answer (unhappily) to my groin pain. I have a left hip labral tear and a left inferior pubic ramus fracture. I knew something serious was happening but 2 drs. just said go to physical therapy. The third dr. finally ran an MRI (which was very painful in and of itself.) I had been asking for an MRI for 4 weeks and the 2 drs. just wouldn't order one. Now I am waiting for the dr. to call me. I assume he will call me?

I am not sure if I need surgery or just time for it to heal.

I don't have an app't til next friday.

Lesson learned, when you feel you should go to the emergency room GO!

Oh Bless You - there are times when ER is the best place to go but you feel you don’t want to bother them....

Ring the Surgery yourself to be on the safe side especially as it Friday.

Hope they give you something for the pain 🙏🏼🌺🙏🏼

Obviously a couple of doctors who haven't been taught that a patient knows more about their body than a doctor ever will!!!

But you have nothing you can identify that might have caused it?

No injury. I went up and down a 2 step ladder a few times cleaning off a bedroom shelf.I was able to do it and no problem after. About 2-3 days later I started getting this awful groin pain.

How strange - mind you, a good excuse not to use stepladders ...

The "cure" is usually rest and painkillers ...

just got a call back from dr. and that is correct. It is stable so rest and pain killer. Pelvic can take months to get better. Lovely!I guess I will have to go on one of the bone meds. Held out til now but this is really bad!

It isn't necessarily due to osteoporosis, though to be fair, that is a likely answer. I can't see how the labral tear could be.

My 80 year old neighbour had a pelvic fracture after colliding with his mate when skiing! He had to spend 3 weeks lying - obviously wasn't stable.

Will crutches help?

Dr. suggested crutches or a walker. My shoulders couldn't take the pressure of crutches. A friend just dropped off a walker. So I guess it is time and patience with a lot of pain thrown in.

I hurt my groin stepping up and down on a dining chair when home decorating several years ago. Didn’t feel much at the time but ended up with in lot of pain suddenly a few days later, Felt like a tear but X-ray and CT scan didn’t show anything. Had to pay for an MRI eventually which only showed ‘inflammation’. It was so long after the event, I felt a tear could have healed by then! I managed to get about walking carefully and resting whenever possible, using a stick. It did get better but it was a lesson to me not to be so cavalier. I bought a two step ladder but now mostly ask someone else to do the climbing 😬 Hope you feel better soon x

Thanks for the reply. I guess I have to change my thinking as to what I can do and not do. Or should I say should or shouldn't do.

Sorry to hear about all your medical issues. I have GCA I was on prednisone for 14 months and as well as Actemra. The Actemra is working well. My Sed Rate and CRP levels have been good. My doctors do blood work every month. I still have occasional pain in my head and/or jaw but only for 30min. to a couple of hours. The pain is tolerable. The prednisone caused so many issues, torn rotator cuffs as well as torn tendon and stress fracture of my ankle. MRI’s found my problems. I am lucky because I do have great doctors that I have been seeing for many years. Some doctors do not see a reason for these tests and you waste so much time suffering. I had many eye problems that my Opthamologist blames on the drug as well and now I have osteoporosis. Although hard, having a positive attitude helps. Good luck.

Thank you for the reply. I tried 3 dmards and the side effects were just to much for me. Now I have to be concerned about the side effects of the bone meds. I have had fibromyalgia for 20 years and PMR for 4+ years and have maintained a good attitude thru out, until now. I have hit an all time low and will have to fight my way out. On top of that I am really scared of the covid vaccine. The absolute last thing I need is another medication that gives me pain.So sorry you suffer with GCA, glad you have drs. you like and trust.
