From the snowy Highlands I wish everyone a good new year and much health and happiness. Here’s to a much better 2021 for everyone. Someone was asking what Scots were doing at Hogmanay....well basically sadly nothing this year like most people (very jealous when speaking to my niece in NZ earlier where things are very normal). However Edinburgh Hogmanay have gone online and so instead of the biggest Hogmanay party in the country here are 3 films instead in case anyone is interested. They’ve been made using drones and the choreography is wonderful. Narrated by David Tennant and others they talk of the past, present and future and provide some optimism. I thought some Edinburgh exiles might enjoy them ( SheffieldJane I'm thinking of you but I know there are others) but hopefully others will like them too. Happy New Year all and thanks for all the advice and support.
The Nova Scotia flag appeared in my email notification of your reply but not on the actual post for some reason. It really is very very Scottish isn’t it!?
Nova Scotia was the first British colony to have its own flag issued by royal charter! And in order to create the barons of NS properly they had to be on NS soil, so a tiny patch of soil exists in Edinburgh Castle to this day which was declared to be part of Nova Scotia
Oh, that made me a bit tearful too. I hope your friend enjoyed them. Edinburgh is a hard place to leave. My Mum was born in Ontario so there’s a nice wee bit of symmetry there I think... 💜
As newly diagnosed GCA it’s great to hear from someone else in the highlands! Went to bed early (all your good advice) so missed the programme will look forward to catching up tonight we live in a beautiful place. Happy hope filled New Year to you all. Thanks for being there.
Good tears I hope...? I found it quite emotional too. I thought you’d like them. I hope you have a great 2021. You've had a really rough 2020 (even by 2020's pretty awful standards!) and deserve a big dose of good luck. xx 😘
